Default Re: Paul Ryan to be Romney's running mate?

Ryan doesn't have more important things to do as a legislator than writing phony bills he doesn't expect to pass??
Over the ten year period he was in office Ryan framed only two bills which have passed into law. One was to rename a Post Office in his district and the other lowered the incise tax on hunting arrows. He's a very busy man

Blimey, Trish, do they still use bows and arrows in Wisconsin?

On a more serious side, it was Ryan who managed to get $20.3m from the Department of Energy because "stimulus cash would help his state create thousands of new jobs, save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions"...but who, a year later as part of his attack on the Federal Burgdet from his position as Chairman of the House Budget Committe said his plan "...would slash Energy Department programs aimed at creating green jobs and call...for 'getting Washington out of the business of picking winners and losers in the economy -and that includes our energy sector." When these contradictions were put to him, Mr Ryan said he had forgotten about them..!
Amazingly this attack on Ryan is from a newspaper even more neo-con than Murdoch's press, the Uk Daily Mail!

Hey, he and Romney are the modern Robin Hoods, stealing from the poor and giving to the rich. After all, "Romney" is an anagram for "R money."

There's is no better way to deal with a contradiction than forget about it.

"Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan" is an anagram for "My ultimate Ayn Rand porn"

Ryan's whole MO is that our children should not be burdened with the future consequences of deficit spending yet he quickly points out (with his mom by his side) that 55 year olds and over won't have their Medicare benefits changed. His vouchering process that will essentially gut services and raise user premiums will fall on the younger generation's back.

Paul, we ain't stupid. either way your vodou economics are going to fuck the kids. at least be honest about it.

Ryan isn't a fiscal conservative. Nor is he a conservative. He's extreme -- yes! He, like a lot of so-called conservatives, believes in big government for himself and his buddies.
Now if ol' Mitt were serious about fiscal conservatism he would've chosen Ron Paul. But Paul is a septuagenarian. So he would've been "too old" for the ticket.
Plus, as an actual fiscal conservative, Paul would be bad for Mitt and his buddies. The likes of Mitt and Ryan loathe fiscal conservatives.
Now they wanna impose so-called market discipline on working people. But not on the likes of Wall Street.
Ryan doesn't mention an ecological debt. The one we're currently imposing on future generations. Namely global warming.
The term or notion or reality of global warming isn't on Ryan's radar screen. Nor would it be.
So-called conservatives are very good at trashing the environment. Dems aren't much better.
I mean, we're imposing a future cost, a terrible cost, that really makes decent survival for future generations somewhat difficult.
But the centers of power (namely huge corporations) don't consider that. Nor can they. They're legally obligated to concern themselves with short-term interests. And the likes of Ryan serve that narrow interest. And better. Otherwise he wouldn't be in his current position. He'd be slabbing concrete at his ol' family business -- ha ha!

Ben I think you need to think more deeply about some issues. From this side of the pond it looks to me like the Republican Party is divided between consensus politicians and confrontation politicians, and the latter, attached to, sponsored by or talking for the Tea Party bloc are not the kind of people who would suddenly dilute their demands for tax cuts and budget cuts and staff cuts in Federal agencies just because Romneyshamles and Ryan Shrugged are in the White House -and evidently if Obama serves another 4 years. And although I agree that the Federal govt in the US (as in the UK) could and should be doing more to promote environmental policies that actually work, are cost effective and have long term aims -there are a lot of independent bodies and groups who want this on both sides of the pond and it may be advocacy at the grass roots that is more effective -and I think that is where your sympathies lie. I used to be politically active but not longer, but if I was doing it all over again I would be in some kind of environmental group interested in practicable options; you are young enough and bright enough and energetic with your opinions, maybe now is the time for you to get involved.
