I suspect it's more prevalent than anyone is willing to admit. Cause drugs are for losers. You're talking to people who go through great pains to insure there personal safety and well being in an industry that carries a very real risk for possible health complications. People who can't afford to risk messing with there hormone therapy with certain vitamins let alone some fucked up random chemical concoction purchased on the sly just for kicks. Poppers are dangerous and unpleasant. What is more the type of Poppers on sale today in the UK are not Amyl Nitrate but other chems (Amyl Butrate for instance) since the original concoction is banned.
They are especially dangerous if taken in conjunction with Viagra. I heard of a case last year where an older transgendered escort died during a session when she combined the two. (And her customer fled without calling an ambulance. Disgusting!).

But they are dangerous in other ways. Another anecdote i heard off was a guy at a club who, not knowing what they were, swigged a bottle down. Again an ambulance was called. I don't now how that ended up.
