She was eventually diagnosed with a brain tumor and was told it had to be removed or she could die. Her family doctor attempted to get her to see an endocrinologist and a neurologist. It was four months for one, and six months for the other. She borrowed money and flew to the Mayo clinic in Arizona. It cost her 100K but she looks more beautiful than ever. I'm not here to tell you the US Health Care system doesn't have problems, but you have government run health care. I guess that's cool if you're ready for SRS, but not so much if you have a brain tumor. This was in 2010, so maybe things got better since then.

This is absolutely right. I know a guy with two types of cancer and they don't give a flying fuck about him. Bouncing him off different doctors for 6 months now since he's been diagnosed. Turns out he has a kidney tumour too.

Australia has a good system. But don't tell Americans about that. Tell them about Canadian health care. Why? Because Americans know Canada exists -- ha ha!

And, too, Britain has a more "socialist" system than Canada. In Canada the doctors are private. Running their own private clinics. Is that a good thing? Doesn't that drive up health care costs? (Part of the problem in the states is we don't have free trade with Mexico. Meaning: the free circulation of labor. And thus allowing Mexican doctors to move freely between borders and work in the states. This would significantly reduce health care costs. But American doctors are protected from so-called free market forces. Thus their salaries stay high.)

Cost effective? Maybe you can put a price on complicated heart surgery that could potentially add 20 years to your life, but I can't. One way you'll at least be able to pay it off....the other way you'll be taking an eternal dirt nap. Keep your government run health care.
