Then again, sensationalism is tricky. If there is some kind of change in the popular feeling, tables can be reversed very suddenly. You could see more and more of such articles and it could help. I suppose it’s wishful thinking, but who knows…

Yep, the institution of monarchy is an embarrassing and outmoded survivor, but in terms of social advances, I'd far rather live in the UK than the US. Free medical care, all parties in favour of gay marriage, abortion available without threat. Oh, and tight gun laws.

A week of madness, total of three deaths, four if you count the guy whose shooting by the Met police was the premise of the riots.

Adding guns to the mix would certainly have increased that modest total exponentially.
