Thank you, lovely Nina Lisa. So I guess seanchai was right: this time at least, reading the article, it seems that they addressed the problem rather properly. I still can’t think what this poor teen must be going through. We at times feel that at 16, one is pretty grown up but it’s wrong; it’s an age at which we’re still very impressionable. I like Valerie’s comment (post #12): it’s impressive how strong she looks, and how well she stands up for herself, but it still is very saddening. I hope this article shakes some of these morons up, somewhere...

Probably doesn’t help… I always thought that Nietzsche’s quote, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”, was utter bullshit (forgive the French). He himself ended up as nutty as a fruitcake. yes i feel sorry for the girl , I presume she was in a high school, council estate kinda lifestyle, not easy.. been there although seems she is more further into transition at 16 than i was at that age

just makes me sad when people end up in that rag...

One presumes if they now refer to ts as "she" it is becasue of a recent push led by a movement called transmediawatch to have us shown/referred to properly in the media.... which can only be a good thing. But if you read the comments below the article they are mostly sympathetic and supportive. Maybe even Sun readers are starting to see the world more broadly, despite the Murdochs' attempts to keep them focused on trash

Then again, sensationalism is tricky. If there is some kind of change in the popular feeling, tables can be reversed very suddenly. You could see more and more of such articles and it could help. I suppose it’s wishful thinking, but who knows…
