Default Liverpool FC Summer Transfers 2012

So, what do we think of our Mighty reds picking up Fabio Borini? I'm not entirely sold on it. I mean, I guess it makes better sense having him play with Suarez than Andy Carroll. Carol has 11 goals in 56 appearances. Borini has 11 goals in his last 26. That's kind of on par with Suarez who has 26 goals in 52 appearances. But I think Andy was just starting to warm up towards the end of the season, and never really got the starts under Kenny that he should have gotten to help his playing time and confidence.

I think Carroll is going though, it seems pretty clear from this pickup. It also seems like Clint Dempsey is going to be playing somewhere else now too. (Hate to say this about a fellow American, but Thank God! I think Dempsey's getting a bit old.) Now if King Brendan can pick us up some quality defense, I'd be thrilled.

Any thoughts on who else he's going to pick up?

Dempey's not THAT old. He's also had an odd career compared to most....Regardless, he's in his prime...hence his 23 goals across all competitions last year. Liverpool would be great for him - I hope he can go to a CL team though.

They must be rub-on transfers 'cos nothing seemed to be sticking in yesterday's 3-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion.

Dismal game, dubious penalty that was then missed, Aguerro missing something like 4 or 5 chances to score, Liverpool without any shape or conviction, I can't see them putting a good run together, this team is light years away from the masters of the universe of old. But as usual the early part of the season produces some odd results and West Brom have started well in previous seasons only to slip away over Christmas and the New Year. It really must be time for someone to set up a Penalty school, I am sure I read somewhere about a man who does claim to be able to teach players how to score a penalty 100% of the time. Its as bad as watching a hurdler who can't get his leg over, in a manner of speaking. The hurdles, obviously.

His name is Suarez. We will do ok this season, they scored a wonder goal and twatted us with 10 men after 2 silly pens (silly tackles I mean). Was 60-70% and lots of spurned chances before then.

    Wind ya neck in lid.

    xxx

p.s yes that pen was bad..

Can't imagine why I got the name wrong, I realised after it but still couldn't recall the real name...ah well. Was Gerrard playing? I don't think I heard his name mentioned once on Match of the Day. Liverpool just don't sparkle anymore, they don't have the pulsating drive and energy they used to have; they can survive in mid-table of the top ten over the long term but lose too many matches. I think its time Hansen was retired, if I hear 'I've said it time and time again', or 'the problem is if you have a flat back four then...' -its as repetitive as a plot line in The Archers. At least Lawrenson, who is putting on weight, has the imagination to be sarcastic at times. I don't know who Brendan Rodgers is, but he has the charisma of a cheese sandwich. I can't see him being there at the end of the season, which is yet another one of my useless football predictions.

Agreed. He's a wank. I'm not sold on Dempsey at all, even if he is my countryman.

Sometimes Suarez can frustrate you to the point where you want to forget his name. No worries.

I don't care about a flat back four, as long as I have a good back four. Carragher and Hyppia in their prime under Benitez made me spoiled. Skrtel, Agger, Kelly and Johnson (with an aged Carra coming in later) isn't a sound back 4 to be relying on.

Oh, I think our team is going to get Rodgered for a few seasons. I had high hopes for Pep Guardiola coming in. But the yanks who run LFC apparently think the guy who put together the best club in all of Europe was a mistake. The only way Brendan goes is if we're bottom of the table after 10 matches and in a relegation battle. Unless there's some miracles against Arsenal, Man U, and Man C, I'm thinking we'll finish 12th this year.
