I think Brazil/Asia has the lionshare of pretty TS simply as there is so many of them that do porn/sex work so they are more in your face .... i think on last count there is like 502k TS living in the uk ... now imagine how many are stealth ..blend etc ..so oyu never see these people so therefore you dont count them .. its the cultural thing.. there are so much many more transsexuals in brasil and thailand, becouse unlike in modern west world, they are kind of threated like a third sex.. and acceptance is much higher than what a ts would face in europe or usa. it gets, to the point when it starts to become kind of popular, any many gay men, not real transsexuals, ends up transitioning, ( nothing wrong with that, everbody has his/her own right to do with life whatever he or she wants to .. ).. so there you go, extreme higher percentage of population will transition, and so you have that much larger number of people that ends up in porn industry and on your computer screen.

Europe while i am more passable and at a more advanced stage in transition, i got harassed, screamed at publicly, asked in the metro publicly if had a penis between my legs, even told more than once that people like me deserved to be killed..etc

Now how many people that are obviously trans, did you see them working as waitress, in a pharmacy, airport, hotel reception..etc in London or Paris? In Germany unemployment among ts girls is around 50%.

No company will say: we did not employ you because you are ts, they are smarter than that. Yet speak with the ts girls in many cities accross europe/usa and you will hear so many stories of discrimination in job.

Culture and religion is one part, but also don't forget that if someone want to transition in thailand, they can go to any random pharmacy and buy hormones, which not something you can do easily in let us say France.

In Thailand, yes i have ladyboy waitresses all the time, in Thailand, no they don't murder and decapitate TS like they did to Mylene in France several years ago in Marseille, there is no such things as hate crime nor violence towards them here.

But in Thailand, it goes way beyond the fact that they can't get their gender changed on their IDs...That would be the very least of their problems.

Just an example among others. When TS get called to join the army (conscription or whatever you call it), There's is 2 option: 1, she is dismissed for "body malformation" reason if she has breast (from hormone or surgery); 2, She is dismissed for being "permanently insane" which is most of cases.

When a thai citizen is applying for a job, he is always asked to show "the document saying you did your army thing" (whatever you call it again) and with malformation or insanity with a big red stamp, they never get the job.

That's why so many ladyboys here graduated from university and end up waiting tables or things like that. I've had friends telling me that they begged the officials and cried just to not get an "insanity" stamp.

This is the same for getting a credit card. You need this paper. I'm not even talking about loans, even for a scooter !

Thai clubs have big signs at the door saying "No ladyboys", did you know ? Is it different than a club saying "white only" ? Is it ??? I've seen TS in New york clubs where they refuse gay...

Thailand is extremely difficult to understand for foreigners, simply because of the fact that they think they understand it and thai people let them think that way. And without speaking and reading Thai, you can live here 20 years without having a clue. Here when you think you know, you don't.

I have to agree with you on both points, yes discrimination can take so many different forms, and some time discrimination can be silent.

And no way can appreciate thailand and understand it, without knowing and speaking the language. Basically what every you tell thai they will say: chai chai. You will ask them: do you think the british Queen eat the french king shit? and they will say: Yes Yes. because say no is impolite (well No does not exist in thai language, they can say Mai Chai which is Not yes, but even that is considered impolite to say )
