He really is Gordon Gekko -- A lot of people admire Gordon. In neoclassical economics he's a rational wealth maximizer.
Romney, also, I'm guessing, believes that we, in neoclassical jargon, can have infinite growth on a finite planet. But the laws of physics and chemistry forbid this.
I'm guessing, too, that the likes of Gekko and, too, Romney believe they're engaged in meaningful activity.
But in order to be truly happy -- I'm talking about pure happiness; not hedonism; not thrill seeking -- one has to engage in meaningful activity. Meaningfulness would include, say, marriage or raising a family. These are fairly conservative beliefs --
