Anyone near Cookeville, TN?
A cute little club in Cookeville, TN (close to Nashville and Knoxville) booked me to come perform and promote Friday June 29th and Saturday 30th. Of course I will have goodies to give out and hopefully some of you guys or girls will come hang out with me. The club is alternative with a bigger straight/couple crowd on Saturday.

Can I ask an honest question? Why would any LGBT person want to live in the south? I mean, what is that like? I can't imagine people are particularly tolerant there.

Re: Anyone near Cookeville, TN?
To me this seems to be an over generalization. Sure, in terms of culture and tolerance the south can seem "backwards" but then again, can any region in the U.S. be described any differently? I grew up in Birmingham, AL. which (surprisingly enough to some obviously given it's history) has a pretty rich and well developed Gay and Lesbian community, primarily as since it is the largest urban center aside from Atlanta, is viewed as a place where people from smaller communities can grow in a more positive environment. I had plenty of gay friends growing up and while I will say things may not have been supportive in the early 90s, by the early 2000s a definitive subculture had developed. As with anything else, I'd caution people to look a bit more closely before making off the cuff remarks.

Re: Anyone near Cookeville, TN?
Oh I dunno......far cheaper cost of living, no state income tax, ( I mean CA, NY, CT, MI and several others are damn near broke) no smog, nicer climate, friendlier people, grits, better barbeque, better climate, better beaches, better seafood...but I digress. I was answering a more generic question about why anyone would want to live in the south . Yours was more specific...but wouldn't the answer be kinda the same? I mean it's not 1865 ! lol
