Birchplace has always been run by bandits. But it is now useful to neither its paying customers or those who want to use it as a source of information.

Birchplace is a site which offers provider escort ads, chatrooms, messaging, provider content, sextoy/sissywear webshop etc. etc. It's been around a while and has always been appallingly slow and unresponsive. Towards the end of last year they embarked on a redesign promising the Earth and delivering a small asteroid instead. It's still reassuringly slow at times.

Although it's free to join you have to pay for Gold membership (£25/$30 per annum) for example to do basic things like advanced search, delete messages from your Inbox or to view more than six images in a provider's media gallery on their profile.

It's a bit of a pig trying to promise a poke ...

rods being a bit harsh there. Going back to oldschooldays 1997-98 (tut i was a bit young to be lurking on such websites then but hey..!), and early 2000s , right into middle of 2000's rxxx , aka birchplace was the leader and only place to go for a very long time in the UK... it wasnt that slow back in the old days, the 2nd version wasnt bad either.

they got big problems at the moment, but as no one gives much of a fuck about the UK in general i cannot see any competitors popping up, TVchix caters for a diff angle, AW is purely commerical.... BP still has time to sort itself out, probably a lot of it.

it's inability to scale its servers to cope with the demand in recent years exacerbated by an expanding user base has done it no favours.

The old site wasn't bad. It always seemed a bit cheap and nasty, but based on the subject matter, I didn't really see that being a down point. They used to have some great features that no other site did as well, and it was a welcome place to go and chat to friends when someone was stalking me on Chix. (It happens a lot, I think it's my fault, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong).

The best use of their money really should have been increasing the server support to handle the demand they were getting. The speed of the site was the only real issue anyone had with it (that I'm aware).
