That character and the situations into which she got were accurate and sympathetic, which was a breath of fresh air after Famke Jannsen played a TS in an earlier season in wholly unbelievable scenario. She wasn't a flamboyant, dramatic gayboy on a campy (read: gay) show like Glee.

Just sayin'.

According to Tracy and many others the actor is actually Transgender if you watched the Glee Project..she is just now coming to terms with it..and that's why they did the episode

That may be so, but the portrayal of gay drama geek turned femme is still cliched IMO. I'd like to see more varied types of transwomen on TV.

I cant believe people in here of all places are being critical .... a positive portrayal of someone who says they are transgender is presented on Network TV and people are complaining because she's a boy ... What the????

Every tg girl started life as a boy and they choose the time to start transitioning depending on a lot of factors. Frankly showing a boy in High School who comes out and says that he feels like a woman inside is probably one of the high watermarks for the presentation of transgender people.

Sure it's Glee so it's camp ... Glee is camp personified. That's probably why it's a show that can get away with presenting the story and not make it something tragic (in a cop show he's be murdered in the first part of the show). If they work the Unique storyline right you might actually influence a whole generation of kids to not see Transgender people as creepy freaks (although kids who watch Glee are probably fine with gay people anyway).

Look back in history and up until 10 years ago or so tg's were usually used as a joke, a victim or in things like Sleepaway Camp insane freaks. Yasmin Lee looked fantastic is Hangover 2 but it was still as part of a joke. I'll take this Glee role over the portrayal historically presented every day of the week.

i loved the episode. they were letting them have it. he's such and amazing talent with that perfect in between diva voice...I was tuned to the show have these new character compete to be on glee. though he didn't win in the show, i'm glad the producer decided to put him in some episodes anyways... and this week..whitney...
