If you were aware of the amount of environmental legislation that's been tabled in Congress, you wouldn't make that statement.
Environmental issues should by definition be non-partisan. Progressives, conservatives and everyone in between benefit from clean air, water and habitable protected forests.
The only folks against sound environmental legislation are corporations who are opposed to ANYTHING that cuts into their profit share.
Corporations are without conscious and amoral. That's the real problem, the profit motive is antithetical to a representative democratic political system, and the real trick is finding a way for both free market capitalism and effective governance to co-exist.

Environmentalism and profitability are not exclusive to each other. This is a fight waged by day traders and environmentalists. Environmentalists want to wage war on working people (plain and simple). They want to put business out of business in the name of the environment.

You're confusing environmental extremists (ELF, etc) and groups like the Sierra Club.
Cap and trade is a separate issue altogether.
EVERYONE is, or should be, concerned about the environment. ANd I see nothing wrong with incentivizing behaviors that benefit the environment through legislation.
I hate the way corporations hide behind the plight of 'working people'. And the sheeple drink that tripe whole. ALWAYS. Reason the uber rich won't allow the Bush tax cuts to expire and return back to 39% from 36%, as they were written to do??? Small business, i.e., the working people.
Forget about the $700 billion dollars it will add to the deficit over the next 10 years.
Clue, the plight of multi-billion dollar global corporations and the 'plight of the working people' in this country couldn't be more opposite.
Corporate profit should not be the end game at the expense of EVERY social cost/benefit.
It's disgusting the way corporatists and conservatives alike have made environmentalism an ideological issue, that's the real crime.

Be careful with that word "hate". "Working people" aren't just corporations. Working people are the mom and pop shops that are barely turning a profit in this over-regulated business environment. The mom and pop business that are putting their kids through college.
When environmentalist wage war on money and corporations (their great satan), they also wage war on small business because they each are dependent on the other. Hating business is dangerous.

What makes you think I'm a liberal? I'm just a guy that's tired of all the sheepel in this country allowing themselves to be pushed around by the ass holes that have an agenda that has nothing to do with the good of the country or the planet. But you are right perhaps this would be a little more carbon neutral

It's sort of happening. In one sense, it's happening: http://www.avemaria.com/Default.aspx In another sense, it's been massively slowed down by the recession. And in the most important sense, the kinds of restrictions Monaghan wanted to impose on residences and businesses he quickly found out that by law he can't enforce. It's going to be a combination far-right religious university combined with an over-55 community marketed through churches, so I wouldn't expect a gay pride parade there any time soon. But it won't be illegal to sell pornography there, just a bad idea because the residents will probably boycott you if you do.
