Re: ATTN: Christian
I know it may sound like the perfect cliche line, but I've never dealt with so many flakes as consistently as I have with porn. Not even close. And the tattoo community is loaded with irresponsible losers. But this is worse. And I'm not one of the t-girls who's never had a "real job". I know the difference. I have a very real job right now in fact, and being responsible and professional is something that's expected and required of everyone. It's not slave labor by any means, but no one ditches plans, fails to return calls and emails, or goes MIA. So I feel you on that, Daryl.
There's a certain sense of desperation that exists among people in porn that's pretty sad. Things are pretty thrown together almost always. I'm not used to that in a real work environment. I know porn's not necessarily art, but artists who people take seriously will at least hold themselves to some type of standard or work ethic when they're being creative. But this isn't like that. lol And I'm ok with that, I swear. But personally I'm done with the romper room horseshit and I have no regrets.

Re: ATTN: Christian
I have a real job, been where I'm at for many years and have worked my way up the ladder, but I get blasted for not being instantly available 24/7. Plus back in the day I got bitched at for not wanting to spend more traveling than what I was going to make, not worth it lol.

Re: ATTN: Christian
I probably don't read more than 25% of your posts, Nicole, because mostly they bore me, but I definitely find this interesting. Not that I find it to be the truth or even necessarily coinciding with my own opinion, but it does seem to come closer to identifying key traits of the industry and people within it, than most inside baseball analysis of the industry that goes on in this forum. Watching the girls come into and out of this forum, through the years, has been a helluva thing to watch. I don't have much in the way of conclusions to add, other than to say that the porn industry seems to almost always be transformative for every girl who's come through here. Almost nobody comes through unscathed. The girls who stay away from porn, like Jennifer Paris and Sunny Dee Lite seem more grounded. I say "seem" because part of their projection in this forum is not to reveal too much.
One could pose the argument... "well big deal, lots of things are transformative... including transitioning!" That's true. Transitioning is transformative and rightfully so. But I don't think a career or job should be transformative. Maybe art... as you allude to, but porn ain't art. I've had at least five different careers and none of them have really changed me at all. Other people have changed me. Profound experiences have changed me. But that's about it.
The thing about porn is the transformation rarely seems to be positive in effect for the individual. The best one can seem to hope for is a neutral or no transformative effect. Although initially I was not a big Kelly Shore fan from an "I think she's hot" standpoint, I've really grown to respect and admire her. She's one of the few who hasn't changed. She was on this forum for a couple of years before she started doing porn so many of us have a good sense of who Kelly was before she got into it. And today, she's still the same girl. Porn hasn't changed her, and I think that speaks highly of her underlying character. There are definitely other exceptions, as well, but I think it would be a dull, subjective list for me to name more names.
Anyway, I'm just an old dog around here spouting off.

Re: ATTN: Christian
*sigh
Why can't this thread just die?
Odelay, I have never said my posts weren't boring. In fact, from everything I've gathered, I may be too boring to do porn. I certainly don't get any validation from doing it. I do love sex and I have lots of good sex. But that's clearly not what it takes to thrive in this industry. But I wouldn't have known that about 8 years ago when Tony Vee from Yum first asked me to do it. I knew nothing about it. I was working as a drag queen 2 nights a week in NJ booger bars and working a F/T job all week. I was probably what you guys call a "fem boy", and I didn't pay attention to this type of porn at all. I was just getting started with 'mones at Callen-Lorde.
Anyway, since Christian is now inadvertantly explaining it, those of you who are clueless might find this interesting. It amazes me how generally uniformed people, including the tgirls here, are on this topic. But w/e. Fyi, people, M2F transsexuals who are attracted to women are secondary transsexuals according to the HBS and all kinds of other contemporary shrinks. Secondaries also usually have a need to be sex workers of one kind or another, not necessarily for survival purposes, and are mostly into chicks. They're basically a cross between transsexuals and hetero crossdressers. Secondaries don't care a lot about SRS. For them, being a girl is more of a sexual thrill. This is an EXTREMELY controversial topic actually. Secondaries pretty much hate being labeled as secondary. They were often rejected as candidates for transitioning by medical professionals. If they would dare say they wanted to keep their cocks and were into fucking chicks, they would often risk being labeled a mentally ill. Primary transsexuals were treated far more compassionately by the psychiatric community and get a lot more respect. The secondaries were treated, until maybe 10-20 yrs ago, more like Klinger from MASH; like a lazy cuckoo clock who wouldn't or couldn't hack living a normal existence.
Of course in porn, no one makes such distinctions. lol Either someone with a cock, who looks like a girl, is willing to appear in it or they're not. The people making it and jerking off to it don't care.
There are people like Ray Blanchard who label the entire shemale porn phenomenon as a barely tolerable paraphilic sexual perversion. He would even label me, most likely, as a secondary, for having done porn; him not knowing that I've already been diagnosed twice as primary. lol But I digress.
The writing is on the wall here. I feel like I did when I was walking away from drag. It was LATE. And all of this is LATE. You guys, enjoy your time here with Amy Daly. lol To me, all of this is as stale as it gets. And I'm not pretentious enough to not say so.
