A little supplementary information: From about 1537 to 1814, Denmark and Norway is often used to refer to the kingdoms of Denmark and Norway, including the Norwegian colonies Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands, which were united in a union from 1380 to 1536 treaty since 1450, and then in a real union any rate from 1660 to 1814. And when was the most common spelling Danish.
The Union between Sweden and Norway was an association between the two kingdoms of Norway and Sweden from 1814 to 1905. The two countries passed as separate, independent states, but in personal union with a common monarch.

It's a bit different. I don't speak Portuguese myself, but I think that the comparison with British vs. American English could be applied here as well.

English: It was a moist, grey summer day in late June.

Ironically Bokmål is more similar to written Swedish, while Nynorsk is more similar to Swedish in pronunciation and vocabulary. Bokmål is based on the Norwegian used by the authorities, the church etc. while Nynorsk is based on rural dialects. Most Norwegians speak Bokmål.
Danish ( Copenhagen dialect ) sounds like they have hot potatoes under their tongues ( making it almost impossible to understand )
most Swedish sounds like they are almost out of breath.
Norwegian have so many dialects , that it's quite hard for poeple from one part of Norway to understand poeple from another part.

you will need new set of theeth after you learn Norwegian

example? look at a city name in Norway : Aalesund - the aa is pronounced more like o than a , but not exacly o..........

good luck , best regards to your dentist

That "out of breath" thing is due to the Swedish grave accent.
