This situation has officially gone over the edge into self parody. The guy who got shot just got out of the hospital and Apologizes to Cheney! Basically saying "I'm so sorry that you nearly blew my head off with reckless abandon. I can't imagine the pain this has caused you and your family."

It's like the scene in Back To The Future when Biff brings Crispin Glovers car back and it's completely smashed up, then yells at him.

"I could have been killed! Why didn't you tell me that thing had a blind spot!"
