WHITNEY HOUSTON DIED IN BEVERLY HILLS HOTEL ROOM

Singer Whitney Houston died Saturday in Beverly Hills, according to law enforcement sources.

Authorities are trying to determine a cause of death. [Updated at 8:46 p.m EST.: She was found in the Beverly Hilton Hotel, where emergency medical personnel were called sometime Saturday, said the sources, who asked to remain anonymous because the investigation is ongoing.]

Houston, 48, was in the Los Angeles area for a musical tribute to music executive Clive Davis and had performed and spoken to reporters earlier in the week.

The performer had drug and alcohol problems for years, and in May her spokeswoman said she was going back to rehab.

Publicist Kristen Foster told the Associated Press on Saturday that Houston had died but did not provide further details.

im absolutely devastated

some of you guys know how much i love Whitney, i travelled all around the world to see her, saw her live 18 times, I'm literally going to be sick. I refuse to believe this!

I have cried and I have used my tears to pray for her. Lets pray and lift her soul up to the light of heaven. Lets remember her spirit her heart her voice her happiness. Lets pray in memory of all of her joy, in memory or every smile in memory of the voice that God gave her that touched us in our own spirits. Lets pray that the Lord God will open his arms for his child....Whitney Houston. I was going to say the same thing. It has been suggested to let Whitney sing The National Anthem every year at The Super Bowl. So good and such respect and reverence for the song as well. I don't think I can ever watch that video again the same way.

I just found out how close to my house her body was found. Only a golf course separates my house from her body. My ex-girlfriend had her UCLA graduation party in there and I've been there more times than I can count. Michael Jackson died right by there too and the publicist was just shot too on Whittier. So much death there. So sad.
