Spain is another country with great Horror tradition. Paul Naschy pretty much succeeded Hammer in remaking the Universal Classics with a twist and tons of other good stuff.

I was thinking more of the stunning atmospherics without the gore in films like The Orphanage and The Devil's Backbone. Whenever Guillermo del Toro is involved with a film as director, producer, whatever, it's a guarantee of quality.

I like Guillermo del Toro. The Orphanage(he was executive producer) was a great film. Horror is my thing and I find something good in just about anything. Have many "so bad they're good" in my DVD collection.

Another good Spanish Horror/Comedy is The Day of the Beast.

I couldn't agree more about del Toro. The guy has had a rough life, and really has the ability to create a nightmare world.
