No, I'm not familiar with Truss and I confess that generally my punctuation is abominable, as you can surmise from my posts; not as poor perhaps as the posts of our more intellectually challenged conservatives but there is a whiff of incorrectness about them. Take that last run on sentence. Should there be a semi-colon there. I don't know. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Should there be a comma between poor and perhaps? Or a comma after perhaps? Again, I don't know__perhaps. Can smiley face icon serve double duty as icons and comma? And what's with those underscores? What's with beginning a sentence with "And?" Should that last quote go before the question mark? These are deep deep questions. Once I'm given the answers, I'll never remember them.

My opinions on the use of commas as conjunctions when separating adjectives is not based on any knowledge of grammar. I'm simply extrapolating from my experience as a mathematician and hoping it works.

But we have to SEPARATE the man from the power system that he's a part of.

You are right Ben. Any president is just a link in the chain. The system he has to deal with now is half controlled by the GOP. And they have vowed to not pass anything from the dems in order to make Obama look bad and lose the election. That is their publicly stated goal. The worse shame is when the GOP took the house. That is when progress stopped. If the dems still had the house, many of the Obama jobs bills would have been enacted and millions of jobs created rebuilding bridges and our infrastructure. But he is powerless until the dems get back the house.

It used to be that the GOP in one house, and the dems in the other was a good thing. They kept each other in check. That was back when the GOP understood the meaning of compromise for the benefit of the people. But the GOP has changed since the Teabaggers moved in. They don't want to hear the word compromise. It's their way or the highway, and they have put the congress on hold. They collect their pay checks from the taxpayers, and all they do is stop every bill that can help their own constituates. That is why they will lose the house to the libs in November. Even the republican voters are starting to see what is going on, and they have been voicing their opinions of not being very happy about their party. Especially the guys they are running for the GOP ticket. None of them can beat Obama. They have no record to run on this time. All they have done is to block the dems at every turn. They are shooting themselves in the foot.
