Mellow and Seanchai are right - hermaphroditism or "intersex" status is completely different - it results in "streaky gonadal tissue" and indeterminate genitalia. Nothing of this sort.

The surgeon who agreed to do this, should be struck off, if they haven't been already - this is horrendous. I am as shocked as I have ever been.

I agree that it's extreme - but to each their own. Some would say that subdermal implants (horns on your head, or bumps on arms/penis, look up "la mujer vampiro") are also too extreme.
