    Default London Visit

Im planning a trip to London with my best friend TS American Dream. I've never worked outside the country, although i've been to Dominican Republic once vacationing with a former client of mine. If anyone can offer any tips to work/travel in/to London i'd appreciate it. Is it hard to get into the country? Do they ask a lot of questions and turn people away? Can i travel with a passport or would i need a Visa? Is the weather much colder? I'll be visiting in February for 1 week. Thanks

Damn Ruby. I swear I was just sayin' the other day....what ever happened to all that class that up and left us? Good to hear you're doin' fine and squeezing in some travel. You look so fine. I'm guessing the Britt gurls can answer better, but I've traveled to London numerous times on a passport...and you'll love the airports. So much nicer than anything here in N.E./NY area. Good luck, and hope to catch up to ya when u return xo

well i dont plan on making reguar trips to this site, so i only really post when it's beneficial to me. You guys seem to be doing just fine here on your own if things changed i would consider making more regular appearances, as i once REALLY enjoyed this site before all the nonsense and bashing. Anyhow, thanks, and yes i am doing fine Just moved all my belongings back to NYC from Providence and im planning a major tour before i decide to settle into a new apartment. I missed spreading my wings and after finally leaving my ex boyfriend, i've gained a newfound sense of freedom that i plan on putting to good use. But enough about me, if anyone can offer any advice as far as travelling to london, my ears.... and my legs :P are wide open

Greetings from the UK, Ruby. Yes, you will need a visa and a passport. Suggest you contact other girls from the US who have visited the UK recently and also chat to some of the London-based UK born and bred girls about the best way to work here. Our immigration people can be dumbly bureaucratic sometimes, but they're not in the same league as the low IQ sadists that the US seems to specialise in. And remember that escorting is not illegal here, which makes things a lot easier.

Oh, and the weather's feckin' awful. That's why I'm going to Australia for a month in ten days time. Hope I don't miss your visit!

Good luck. We'll welcome you with open, well, everything.

It doesn't take that long to get a visa, usually pretty easy from the US, but yes, save it till April or May when at least the rain gets warmer lol.

Oh, and I'll be back from Oz.....

US citizens do not need a formal visa paid for in advance for a short visit -up to 6 months- the procedure is that you fill out a white landing card issued during the flight and have your passport stamped by immigration in the airport you arrive in, Heathrow or Gatwick or wherever it is. In effect, this is your 'visa', and the questions they are most keen to ask are the purpose of your visit, which you should say is tourism, and maybe meeting old friends if you have any here; they may also want to see your return ticket, and know where you are staying -presumably a hotel booked in advance -there is a section for this on your landing card anyway. It all depends on how suspicious they are which should not be a problem unless you act in a strange manner and don't answer questions properly. One tip is to never crack a joke with immigration, they have no sense of humour and delight in messing up someone's day if given half a chance. In fact, don't worry at all, as long as you are not on a list of terrorist suspects or carrying a suitcase full of dope you should sail through.

So far we have had a mild winter, no snow, not much rain, not that cold. It could change in February, and it could be wet, so be prepared. I don't live in London any more so Prospero or some of the other London regulars are best consulted for tips on where to go, it all depends on what your interests are; there have been some threads on London places congenial to Ts over recent weeks you might have seen them.
