I don't see the big situation with the thread, everyone's taste is different and no one is a 100 dollar bill to be like by everyone. the reason is piracy ... piracy has almost destroyed the profits achieved for many solo girls .... myself as an example my site costs me a fair bit to run each month ... hardcore model fees, hosting, time spent editing, petrol, clothing etc

what is disheartening is when i pay out 1000dollars to shoot a scene... get it live on my site and within 48hours some cunt has plastered it all over a number of filesharing sites ....and its being downloaded like 25,000 times ,, that directly affects my profitibly as logic would say out of that number of downloads at least a few would have signed up to my website if they had not found my scene ripped ...

Okay, I'm not trying to open up a can of worms here, but this sounds dangerously close to statements made by the RIAA and MPAA... I would like to ask a couple of questions, if I may:

1) When you say your site costs you a 'fair bit' to run each month, around how much are you talking about? I'm a bit confused, because I know hosting even for a pretty heavy traffic site is not that expensive. It sounds like you may be getting ripped off if you're paying more than $20-$30 USD/month. Are you paying someone to do your maintenance?

2) Have you ever considered trying the Louis CK experiment? Spend the above mentioned $1,000 to make a decent scene, and make it available on your site to non-members for $5 a pop. It might make a ton of money or it might not, but it would be a huge indicator of why so many people are downloading ripped scenes (just wanting to steal period vs. not willing to pay membership prices)

In case you couldn't tell, I am a strong opponent to the SOPA/PIPA bills. I strongly believe that people will buy reasonably priced, quality content, and that goes for ALL forms of media (music, movies, porn, etc.) I remember the original Napster days, when people first realized that the CD's they were paying $20-$25 for in the stores could be duplicated for $.50.

Bottom line, piracy is like drugs in so much that people will always do it. It can't be stopped, so instead of wasting resources trying to stop it, why not instead focus on eliminating the CAUSES. (yeah, I know it's a rough analogy, but I hope at least some of you will understand)

I'm not trying to speak for Libby here, but I'm fairly certain that she isn't just talking about hosting fees. Production costs have to pay for talent, outfits, sets in some cases, make up, editing, etc on top of hosting and bandwidth fees.

Now, your advise to try the lewis ck thingy doesn't make much sense. i think libby does update her site frequently (i'm not a member so i'm just guessing) but her site costs $25 a month. So if you get 4 new clips a month, that is $6.25 a clip...that's a fair price. that $1.25 isn't going to prevent someone from watching her stuff if they are a fan of hers.

i really think most people wrongly the piracy issue. i believe that there are people who will pirate just for the sake of doing it regardless of how much money they have or how big of a fan they are. this is a small percentage of the piracy market. then there are the true fans, the people who want to support an artist or star will do so. I would say this is the largest part of the market. the people in the middle who might buy a Louis CK clip for $5 but not $25 are the real problem or solution depending on your point of view. the occasional downloader who for the right price would buy. If these people would buy a libby clip for $5...the extra $1.25 per clip shouldn't matter because its such a small amount. I think this group of people is much smaller than producers want to admit to because they want to claim larger "losses". Because, while I admit that pirates ARE STEALING...they are not stealing real money...they are stealing potential earnings that you don't know if you would have otherwise had. Its that unknown...would all the kids that downloaded a Taylor Swift song have bought it from iTunes or not...the media and producers would have you believe they would have...and i submit that you don't know for sure.

so i will end this rant by saying...the OP started this thread about the quality and quantity of work 2 stars have been putting out. while the issue of piracy and profit definitely play a role in the business of running larger sites or solo sites, it is getting off topic from the OP's point....right or wrong...he was just voicing displeasure with the apparent lack of productivity from 2 girls.
