Always thought you guys loved him like Michael Caine.

Reed was a better Werewolf than Lon Chaney Jr too.

Well if by "interesting" you mean a drunken idiot who squanders his talent & resources to act like a 18 yo who just discovered drinking.... then you are right.

Two Reed stories -- he was stabbed in the neck during a fight scene during The Three Musketeers (they used real swords in those movies), but wouldn't allow production to be slowed.

During the shooting of Tommy, Reed and Keith Moon became party buds. One day Moon hires a helicopter and has himself taken over to Oliver Reed's estate. Reed greets him carrying two swords and chsllenged Moon to a duel. Moon wound up stabbing Reed in the ass.

The thread is about Reed as 'the most interesting man', presumably man and actor; but most of his films are third-rate howlers; and as a man, Reed was a loud, foul-mouthed drunk who had his name, Oliver, tattooed on his cock; at least Michael Caine has made films throughout his career that were worth watching, even today The Iprcress File retains its appeal as one of the few realy good spy films. Reed was not interesting in any way, he was just a problem. Having just read an article on Anjelica Huston which as usual refers to her 'hell-raising' daddy John, I wonder, what is the appeal of such people?

Ever see The Brood? Cronenberg at his finest. Reed was like a head doctor/cult leader. Very natural and believable performance.
