To all the guys and girls. Are poppers part of your usual sexual routine?

I was introduced to them about two years ago by a porn star who was topping me off and ever since I don't want to bottom without them. Poppers is a slang term for various alkyl nitrites inhaled for recreational purposes, particularly isopropyl nitrite (2-propyl nitrite) and isobutyl nitrite (2-methylpropyl nitrite), and now more rarely, butyl nitrite and amyl nitrite (isoamyl nitrite, isopentyl nitrite).[1] Amyl nitrite is used medically as an antidote to cyanide poisoning,[2] but the term "poppers" refers specifically to recreational use. Amyl nitrite and several other alkyl nitrites, which are present in products such as air freshener and video head cleaner[3], are often inhaled with the goal of enhancing sexual pleasure.[4] These products have also been part of the club culture from the 1970s disco scene to the 1980s and 1990s rave scene.[5] Poppers have a long history of use due to the rush of warm sensations and dizziness experienced when the vapours are inhaled.

Originally (back at the turn of the last century) poppers were amyl nitrates that were sold in glass ampules that you cracked, hence "poppers". They were used to treat angina and other heart conditions due to the effects of relaxing soft muscle tissue. They are now usually isobutyl nitrites that have the same effect. Basically you get a read high, a sudden rush of euphoria, and your sphincter relaxes, making anal sex easier. They are not a street drug and are sold in most sex shops. They come in little brown bottles containing the liquid, which you can sniff directly or pour onto a rag or pillow to sniff.

How so? I understand that they are most popular among gay men, but I've never understood why they aren't more widely used among heterosexuals as well. Especially now with anal sex between men and women being (seemingly) more prevalent and mainstream.
