Does it matter? - no.

Like you said, you can't be inside someone's head, and so it's probably right to conclude a person is racist if they say racist things (especially on here where it is only our text that defines us).

I am not particularly politically correct, and I know I can be insensitive sometimes. But I also know my own private thoughts - which believe it or not (screw) is that we are all the same. Skin colour should be irrelevant!

IMO this is the only intelligent stance on racial issues.
