Yeah, I kind of got that watching the guy that came in from Syracuse to pick up our alloy scrap. He always looked like he was dead on his feet. One of our private carriage guys told me about how when he was younger he and another guy would team up to the East Coast on the weekends, essentially driving seven days a week. Back then they would run US50 through Ohio and one Sunday he was coming through Hillsboro, OH and got scared and woke up his partner to take over because of the kids he kept seeing getting ready to dart out in front of him. I used to fall asleep all the time after I would pull into a truck stop to 'work my log book' and slump over the steering wheel. It is not un common if you run out your log. I used to run 18hr days and fix my log book to read legal.(I kept two books) One day crossing the Fl border I realized my legal log book read I was sleeping in N.C oops

A lot of companies like the one i drive for now have E -logs, so if a driver gets pulled into a scale, there's proof of whether he or she has been running legal or not. Plus from my experience, it keeps dispatch from pushing drivers too hard on hours.

Update
I now drive two days a week haulin logs. Pay is shitty just 10 bucks an hr for 20hrs a week
My rig is a 1985 mack it has been beat too hell over the years but, it is strong enough to pull 50,000lbs of logs.
