Freddie, ever think about bartending? If you're not happy with the hotel and feel this greeting/assisting thing is temporary, give it a look. A lot of my friends make good money at the right spots in LA. Pouring drinks is always something good to fall back on.

I was a doorman and manager but I put my shifts in behind the bar. The inventory was always fucked when I was pouring.

That said, having famiy and friends in the bzness, there are a lot of scams and moochers and weirdos and perverts and ...well just like on this site. You seem to be able to handle yourself here, so you should be fine doing your thing there.
