Yeah, a CME would f*ck everything up beyond recognition. But, there's not a likelihood in 2012 since it's peaking now. Besides, there's not much you can do to protect yourself if it happened, besides getting as far as possible from civilization (like Antarctica) and hiding out for like 10 years, as 99.9999% people would die off in a bloodbath of hand-on-hand war, cannibalism, etc. So, there's really no point in pondering it.
