I am originally from Brazil (been living in the US for over 20 years) and have NEVER had an issue in Rio or Sao Paulo or any other city.

I go to Brazil at least once a year or maybe more. If you follow a few rules you will be safe and have a GREAT time.

Many of the girls are now learning english due to a few "small" events coming to Brazil (World Cup in 2014 and Olympics in 2016) and government is offering free english classes to anyone in the business of providing service, Taxi driver, prostitution, store clerks, etc...

NEVER go to the girls house, Not that is unsafe but if you are not familiar with the neighborhoods and such just get the girl to come to your hotel or even better meet them at a Sex Motel. In Rio I recommend VIP, Shalimar, SInless (all in Zona Sul - Tourist area) or try some of the motels in Zona Norte (Barra neighborhood) Skorpios, Dunas, etc..
I prefer quite often just to bring them to my hotel room, often in RIO they will charge to have a guest come up to the room, it depends in the hotel but it can cost as little as $20 and as much as $100 - If you basically called them before 10 PM and go meet the girl downstairs and walk up with her they will ignore you.
Try looking for the girls that have worked in Europe, you will have a better chance of getting one that speaks english.

All good points. I'm black American been to Rio and Bahia 3 times never had one problem. Everything exactly what you say. I also found hot ts (albeit street girls) around Flamingo area.
