To pick up on just one half-assed assertion that those who embrace multiculturalism believe that" all cultures are to be respected except Western culture which is uniquely bad." An allegation thrown at liberals which is totally without foundation from the Glen Beck school of asinine prejudice and Goebbelspeak.

Leaving aside the arcane notion that Lenin was not a Marxist (because his understanding of Marx's critique of capitalism was as faulty as his own spurious The Development of Capitalism in Russia [1899]); the idea that revolutionary agitators either wait for the masses to revolt or for the capitalist system to fall apart is simply wrong.

Thus, the Bolsheviks seized power in October 1917 and used their superior form of organisation to take control of the chaotic conditions that prevailed in the main urban areas of Russia, having made various attempts to 'rouse the workers from their slumber' since the failed revolution of 1905. This is a complex history because it involves the leadership skills of Lenin and Trotsky as much as the failure of the liberal groups in Russia, initially led by Kerensky, to achieve what the Bolsheviks did. Moreover, by the end of the civil war in 1923, the Bolsheviks had consolidated power and the Communist Party remained in control until 1991 -yes, it was a failure as an economic political and social system, but the revolutionary vanguard did succeed and not fail as the chart implies -the consequences of Leninism for the European left after 1917 were devastating -Spain alone being a grim example.

Another failure: China: From the countryside to the city encapsulated Mao's strategic perspective: build communism in the countryside by challenging landlords and corruption, by placing cadres in control of villages where they demonstrated their humility and honesty -a strategy that worked, the Communist Party is still in power in China whatever you think of the economy, and the way in which the rural cadres who were exemplary in the 1940s were replaced by cronyism and corruption, as happens with systems that don't change.

If the chart can't get basic history right, what is its point?

I don't see how Post-Modernism is connected to terrorism when post-modernism in its 'pure' form leads to atrophy and indifference not militant activity; Prospero's remark on multi-culturalism needs no further elaboration, and the chart makes a claim that its assumed alternative is in every way better without explaining how 'the richest country in the world' now counts 1 in 6 people as poor: if capitalism is so successful, how is this success to be measured?
