    Default 9/11 10th Anniversary

Friday will be the 10th anniversary of that terrible day which we will all remember for the rest of our lives, the day that the world changed irrevocably and for ever.

I'd like to take this opportunity of offering all my American friends (and occasional adversaries) on HA my very best wishes for a good day in the morning. My thoughts will be with you.

And please, please, please, can any further contributions to this thread focus solely on the commemoration, and not the political ramifications or the conspiracies? The dead deserve that dignity.

    Thank you.

    Amended, thanks. No offence intended.

Thanks Robert. I will avoid as much 9/11 coverage as I can on Sunday because it makes me too angry. Such a shame Bin Laden can only die once as he should return to Earth an infinite amount of times to die a different death every day. I pray I see him in Hell.

There were more than just Americans lost in the towers. Like the 'tag' says '9/11...The day that changed the world.' Those responsible could never die enough deaths...

I was in a high rise at the corner of Church and Cortlandt staring out the window when the first plane came in. For those NYers out thee, the Century 21 building.

I still get freaked the fuck out every year. I watched a little too much. At the time, as the burni g jumped, I thought "someone needs to watch this".

    I wish I hadn't.

I didn't leave my building until the second plane hit. Oddly, it was beautiful- a nose cone of fire coming out of the second building, dissipating into a fireball and throwing debris toward us.

It's terrible what everyone had to go through that day. From the outside looking in it was horrific to watch and hearts went out to everyone involved. But, to say the world changed forever is a bit of a stretch. I know it happened in your world, but it didn't happen in THE world. I know many people in other countries who's lives were never affected and life for them carried on rather quickly after the event. I'm not downplaying the event but, tragedies have struck in other parts of the world but Americans don't look at that as world-changing because it didn't happen to them.

I'm not downplaying the event in any way, just trying to offer another perspective.

True, there's countries that has their own issues and civil wars to worry about. The event changed America, but the world, nahw

About them towers though, I still to this day find it too hard to believe that them plans alone can knock down both them towers...

I agree, SirCums. When I see clips of the planes hitting the towers I feel like I'm seeing it again for the first time. And who knows, maybe it wasn't the planes alone.
