How can I be a hyprocrite when the thread says it all: 'Mafia' -?? I was surprised The Sopranos wasn't mentioned precisely because the thread had slipped into an anything goes mode. Its really not that big a deal, in the end its a matter of taste.

Yep, I'd agree with both of those. And thanks for whoever nominated Once Upon a Time in America. Leone is like Scorsese when he tackles the mafia and gangster genres, epic and operatic in the best senses of both words.
