    Frottage as in cottage.

Whilst we're on the subject, homage does NOT have to be pronounced like fromage, as there's a perfectly serviceable word in the English dictionary, namely homage (as in cottage).

But then Americans have always talked garbage ... as in fromage ...

What is the etymology of the word anyway? Why is frottage called frottage? That's a funny word.

It's from the French word frotter, which means 'to rub'.
