WOMAN ACCUSED OF SLICING OFF HUSBAND'S PENIS

GARDEN GROVE, Orange County, California – A woman is behind bars after police say she poisoned her husband, cut off his penis and threw it in the garbage disposal because he "deserved it."

At about 9 p.m. Monday, officers went to a home in the 1400 block of Flower Street after a woman called 911 and reported a medical emergency, Garden Grove police Lt. Jeff Nightengale said.Officers found a 51-year-old man tied to the bed and bleeding from his groin, he said. The man, who has not been identified, underwent emergency surgery at UCI Medical Center in Orange and was listed in serious condition, Nightengale said.

The 48-year-old woman, Catherine Kieu Becker, is accused of using an unknown poison or drug in her husband's food to make him sleepy, Nightengale said. She then tied him to the bed and, as he woke up, she cut off his penis with a knife, Nightengale said.

She tossed the penis in the garbage disposal and turned it on, Nightengale said. She told responding officers that he "deserved it," Nightengale said.

The victim told detectives that he believed there was something wrong with the food Becker prepared for him, Nightengale said.

Becker and the victim are going through a divorce, he said.

Becker was arrested on suspicion of aggravated mayhem, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, administering a drug with intent to commit a felony, poisoning and spousal abuse, Nightengale said.

The investigation is ongoing.

This reminds me of a gal I used to work with who put an asshole who used to brag about beating his wife in his place by telling him: "You gotta sleep sometime." We can't tell what motivated this woman to amputate her husband's penis, but I'm sure she will stand trial for her actions and it would be hard to provide a justification for them. At the same time, though, Giovanni, it still isn't a justification for beating her or any other woman, or for that matter anyone at all, to death.

To drug someone, cleave their phallus, and then further mutilate it by means of a garbage disposal is a disturbing not to say painful image that undoubtedly will be pursued in the courts. What I am wondering is what type of life this man will be able to pursue after this overzealous circumcision procedure, can they make prosthetic penises? But what is even more disturbing is the thought of what must have driven that woman to such extreme measures, certainly she will be tried in the courts for these crimes, but what about the likely emotional (or physical) cruelty which drives people (men and women) to these extreme measures? Are they ever brought before a jury or even dealt with except when things get out of hand and someone has their penis sliced off or a woman finds that the heartache she feels is a result of her beloved affectionately pinking her with a bowie knife? The abuse that doesn't leave outward bruises or wounds is no less potent and if anything is all the more in the sense that it can seldom be proven and even more rarely be amicably resolved.
