Even though my handle is "Los Angeles resident", I actually live in Orange County. I'm against this Riverside County supervisor's proposal to split California because he wants to include my county in his utopia and I don't want to be part of his utopia, I want to be part of California. My suggestion to him is he should relocate to either Arizona or Texas if he's so unhappy with how California is governed.

Actually, there has been a movement to combine Northern California and Southern Oregon since the 1930s and name it the state of Jefferson. The movement started because people in those areas felt that Sacramento and Salem didn't pay enough attention to their needs.

Yup, very true... They had everything ready and rarin to go, had the date marked on the calendar for when they were going to announce it. That date was December 8, 1941. Unfortunately some Japanese tourists visiting Hawaii threw a monkey wrench into those plans.
