I'm a Republican and black, so I'll take two scoops of the "hate" please... And this despite the fact that I never gave a rat's ass about Obama's birth certificate. BTW, he's biracial, not black. You're right though in that we don't want him as president.

That's an entirely reasonable position. Why should a republican want a Democratic President? And glad you're not a Birther either - those guys managed to make themselves look utterly ridiculous to everyone but themselves. Over here, we just shake our heads.

I can't help thinking that the general state of your country would only be improved by a return to some level of mutual courtesy in political discourse.

You're 100% correct. However, as I've said before, when you have people who assume everyone who identifies with one party or the other takes the party position on every matter, mutual courtesy becomes impossible. Then again, this is America, where despite being born with a brain, you are rarely if ever required to us it. The UK is looking better all the time, my friend.

I'm still trying to understand the racial connection to a birth certificate. If he has one (albeit taking 3 years to find it) then he's an african american. If he only has a newspaper clipping, he's african ____an?

Can someone please explain to me how he is an African American? I've been trying to understand that for years. His mother was a white woman, his father was a black African... You know, I suppose that does make him an African American actually, but if that's the case then we need to find another name for everyone else currently called an African American. I'm just going to call myself a Black American from now on so that there's no confusion.

As both a veteran of the US Army and someone who was in Manhattan on 9/11, I hope you'll forgive me if I do away with all the partisan rhetoric and feel a slight sense of closure now that Bin Laden is gone.
If nothing else maybe all the Americans that died that day and all the people around the world (Muslims included) that Al Qaeda murdered with Bin Laden in charge rest a little easier.

No it's not over... but it's better than nothing.

History Made: Fox News Credits Obama for Killing Osama Bin Laden

You know when Fox News is singing President Obama's praises something serious has gone right in America. I mean, everybody else on every single news channel was saying that Obama -- in concert with our heroic military troops who carried out a daring attack -- pulled off one of the gutsiest, bravest operations in years.
But Fox News?
They were actually saying the same thing.
I half expected Fox News to blame Obama for not killing Bin Laden twice. Or not killing him with the right weapon. But no, Fox News actually gave the president credit.
I know, scary stuff. The anti-Obama network used words like "historic" and a "very great success," which has my head spinning.
You know, maybe the Fox spinmeisters didn't show up to work on Sunday -- maybe they'll arrive at work on Monday morning and say, "Wait a second, we gave Obama an ounce of credit?! Who authorized that?"
Then, get this, at 1:38 a.m. they actually quoted NPR -- in a positive manner.
The world has been turned on its head.

In the rush to report the news of Osama Bin Laden's death, a FOX News affiliate in Sacramento should have taken a moment to check its spelling.

Running along the bottom of FOX40's report on the event, the chyron read: "Reports: Obama Bin Laden Dead."

Apparently, some people issued complaints and accusations that it did it on purpose. After all, FOX News has some obvious conservative leanings in its coverage with Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly over at the mother ship.

FOX40 issued an apology (kind of), but not before they defended its mistake by pointing out how easily it could be made and that other news organizations made similar mistakes, including CNN and the Modesto Bee newspaper.

They even threw a fellow FOX affiliate in San Diego under the bus for its anchor actually saying "President Obama" instead of "Osama Bin Laden" was dead.
