I listened to that Istanbul final on BBC World Service in Tokyo and got them to open the bar up at 4:30 am!

My one regret about Kenny was that he could never quite reproduce his Liverpool or Celtic form when he was wearing a Scotland jersey.

And he and his wife deserve serious recognition for what they did for the fans and the community after Hillsborough.

Why Liverpool? An uncle of mine played for them in the 60s.

Reminds me of driving down the East Lancs Road in the 80s, when Liverpool were in their pomp and Man U were in the pre-Fergie wilderness. It was at the time when right-on councils were boasting that they were all nuclear-free zones (although how the fuck the soviet missiles would have been able to pick and choose I really don't know... ).

So as you passed under the railway bridge going east which separated Merseyside from Greater Manchester County, there was a splendid piece of graffiti which warned "You are now entering a trophy-free zone."
