I've lived in both: NY 1998 until 2004, LA since. I voted LA but I think it depends on what you want.
You want great food and easy public transportation, and a part all night every night in every club, New York wins hands down.
You want a life? Move to LA. Simply more "livable".
Doesn't hurt that Los Angeles has had nearly 100 years of gorgeous people moving in to make it in Hollywood and breeding gorgeous progeny in the process, of course!

One day I am planning on moving from Las Vegas to another city and was thinking between these two cities and Miami. So this thread will help me lots! Thanks! I was also thinking of San Francisco. Its between these 4 cities!
