    Default Andy Pettitte anounces retirement.

With Andy Pettitte anouncing his retirement (according to ESPN) the Yanks pitching rotation is not looking to well. I know he was not a great pitcher but he could have given help to the rotation.

    plz don't get me started.
Andy will make the hall of fame on first year of eligibility.
he is 240-138 lifetime..... 102 wins above .500. an amazing career achievement
he has 19 post season wins, more than any pitcher in baseball history

He is a great champion and every baseball fan will miss watching him compete in mlb

I like his overall stats but the PED use will prevent a first ballot election.

Agreed...but if he gets in...then Musina should get in. ( although AP has been a gamer in the post season) Andy is a stand up guy. I loved going to the staduim when he pitched cause you know he would grind out 7 innings, and didn't make you feel so bad about the inflated ticket prices !

I have to say I loved watching him pitch! His stare from the glove to the plate was at times intense and you love to cheer for a guy who will grind out inning after inning for the team.

You're right; no doubt about it. That's gets to the crux of my point: Andy named names to ave his own skin. That's weak. He got caught and should have simply taken it like a man.

He did ...he admitted it to some degree. So should the punishment be banishment ? and should we then be able to see the secret list of 100 that the commissioner has ? Cause they're every bit as guilty as Petit...but probably will never be identified cause if they were, and the punisment was suspension or banishment, we'd be watching AAA players for the next several years. That's how many guys dabbled with this shit.
I long for the days of booze and broads being the only vices of players, but you can never go back there again dude.

I think we agree about the larger issue more than we disagree. The thing with Andy is, he changed his story three times, then he ratted on Clemens and fed us all the religious defense....Jesus helped him come clean. As you've mentioned, juicing was no secret inside clubhouses so the idea of going after only a very few players is more akin to writing speeding tickets at the Indianapolis 500 than justice.
