Re: So there really is a NEW Thundercat series in the works!
Yeah i agree with you and most of the cartoons or characters you've mentioned, i remember. I also remember those space barbarian kind of shows like He Man but different, one was called Thundar i recall, the other ones i don't remember, there were like 2 of them.
Also a few months ago i learned about an 80's animated movie designed by Frank Frazetta and i watched it online and it's amazing. Fire and Ice or something like that.
I've always wanted to see Thundercats done in Frazetta's style. But i gotta say i really like the sleeker and more elven like Cheetara shown in the teaser than, say, a volumptuous Cheetara like Frazetta would draw. Still interesting tho.

"Blackstar" was a He-Man knockoff.

I also have the Bravestarr and Tex Hex figures too.
I think if it was on tv then i had the toy to match it ... even that "Captain Power" jet.

Does anybody remember Mazinger Z and Grendizer?
An hour's drive from where I live there's an old residential estate which has a 10 metre high statue of Mazinger Z:

Re: So there really is a NEW Thundercat series in the works!
As this obviously has turned into a kind of "Cartoon Nostalgia"-Thread, I want to share the memories of some of my favorite cartoons when I was starting to watch them (about mid-90s).
My absolute favorite has always been "Gargoyles".
Some of the more conventional Disney cartoons were quite enjoyable, too. Foremost, there's the great Carl Barks-inspired "Ducktales":
And its spin-off, the superhero spoof "Darkwing Duck":
I also liked Disney's "Bonkers", inspired by Roger Rabbit:
It was also the time Steven Spielberg produced some great cartoons, like "The Animaniacs":
Its spin-off "Pinky & the Brain":
Or the great "Freakazoid":
But "Gargoyles" wasn't the 90s's only cool adventure cartoon.
There also was "Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys":
And, of course, the 90s were also the time when cartoons based on superhero comics became actually good, thanks to Bruce Timm's "DC Animated Universe", starting with "Batman":
Continuing with "Superman":
"Batman Beyond":
And the fantastic "Justice League" and "Justice League Unlimited":
"Give me some Spock! Just once, would it kill you?"
