For Android users, don't be without Taskiller. Let's you "kill" apps running in the background to preserve battery life.

"AK Notepad" is a quick & easy way to write short notes & reminders for yourself. "Hello Note" lets you scribble your notes in your own handwriting, bypassing the keyboard.

"Double Twist" is a wonderful media manager.

If you use Yahoo Mail, they have their own app that is absolutely the best, most functional e-mail app I have seen.

"iheartradio" lets you listen to hundreds of Clear Channel owned radio stations all over the country.

"Google Sky Map" is awesome- displays a map of the sky in whichever direction you aim the phone, with constellation labels, etc. You can even point it at the ground & see what the sky looks like in China. LOL

"Ringdroid" is an mp3 editor that will let you edit any mp3 sound on your phone & save it as a ringtone- and the editing is VERY precise. You can easily edit the EXACT portion of a song you love & put it into your ringtone stable.

"PicSay Pro" is a fantastic photo editor, complete with effects, enhancements, etc.

    "ESPN Scorecenter." Self explanatory.

"Tapatalk Pro" is good for viewing participating web forums in a forma that many find more pleasing than the regular web forum in a shrunken format.

If you have a TiVo at home, there's "TiVo Remote." Not written or supported by the folks at TiVo, this is simply a substitute for the remote control. You have to have WiFi connected to your TiVo and then go into your TiVo settings to allow network commands, but it takes all of a minute & 19 seconds to accomplish.

"Trillian" is a great IM service consolidator- uts your Windows Messenger, Gmail, Yahoo, and other IM services in one program/app. Been around on PC's for years, and now they have an Android app as well.

"The Onion" has an app as well. If you don't know them, Google them & go to their site. Sarcasm and parody abound.

"PDANet." This one takes a little more work, but is worthwhile. You need to download a program from their web site as well as the Android market, but it lets you tether your laptop, etc., even on early Android phones which supposedly didn't have tethering capability. And on newer phones that DO have the capability, PDANet bypasses the need to PAY for tethering.

"ShopSavvy" and "CNET Scan & Shop" are barcode readers- snap a pic of a product barcode & they will fetch you prices online as well as in brick & mortar stores near you. Best Buy has attempted to ban barcode apps from being used in their stores. ROFL.

And finally... if you ever take road trips to areas without cell coverage, as I do, you need a navigation app that stores its maps on the SD card. Google Nav is awesome, but it uses maps "in the cloud," so it is useless in very rural areas. I tried several Nav apps, and settled on "Co-Pilot Live" as probably the most stable, flexible & usually sensible-routing of them. It'll cost you $40 for the maps, but the app is free. Cheaper than buying a Garmin to sit next to your Droid on the dashboard.
