I think he was just a bit too paranoid and didn't feel comfortable giving out his number. It may have been fine, but you played it safe and that is always the right thing to do.

Back to the topic, you should have told him you were going to block your number so it wouldn't show the number. As for him calling you, well your number is going to show on his bill. No one ever said all customers are smart, this one is not for sure.

you have to be careful if you get a bad vibe or someone is that paranoid id skip it its not worth the bother. true the number can be erased but there are plenty of easy excuses as to who is that number? a simple "I called a missed call back" would cover it. If hes upset too bad. Go with your gut feeling. You have nothing to be sorry for.
