The song is about not being afraid to express yourself and not letting your flaws and hinderances stop you from having a good life. Its a great song and goes perfect with the video , very uplifting!

Damn you people need to stop drinking the Kool-Aid! I've been wanting to start this thread myself. So glad some people can see the emperor's new clothes. Katy Perry is sooooooo NOT FINE. She is not hot and she does not exude that California image that she tries to portray. She comes off like the girl who lived in Cali, but watched all the other girls live the west coast life style while she spectated. Any honest person would think Kesha was from Cali and Katy was from Nashville--- not the other way around.
Don't get it twisted--- she's not ugly! But if this is one of the hottest chicks you ever seen, you need to get out more. She's an EXTREMELY average looking girl and EVERY GIRL I EVER DATED IS HOTTER THAN HER, and that's real! Nothing special about this girl. She looks (and wants to be ) British to me! I live in SoCal, home of bleach blondes and cheap breast implants. Average here is generally better than Katy so I'll admit that maybe I'm biased.

And I do think she's cute. I just think she's plain and overrated.

+1. That's it. Waaaaaay overrated. I know this pre-dates most of you, but below is a pic of Julie Brown. She was on MTV in the 80's and IMO Katy is the 2010 Julie Brown--- quirky girl who sings sesame street-esque songs with a nice rack. In the 80s, nobody was calling Julie Brown hot, she was just the other Julie Brown. Downtown Julie Brown was the hot one.
