First Time in New York - Recommendations ??

Unfortunately i wont be able to sample the TS scene as i coming with my wife...

Would have loved the opportunity to meet Allanah again but such is life....

We're coming to New York - and out of the UK for the first time on Friday.

There seems to be a lot of sensible people on this board from NY, so i thought i'd ask for suggestions for places to see and good restaurants in Manhattan.

We staying Midtown ? - around 34th ? - so im hoping this is central enough to see quite a bit in the 3 days we're there.

Any advice on the City welcome.

If you’re a tourist coming with your wife, I would recommend the following:

1. Check out the view from the top of the Empire State Building’s observatory.

2. If it’s within your budget, you should try dinner at Rainbow Room. It will cost you, but it’s totally worth it.

3. If you like Jazz, try the Iridium, Cleopatra’s Needle (good food), or Arthur’s Tavern.

4. As far as museums go, check out the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art (my favorite), and the Frick Collection.

5. For a truly unique experience, try the Bubble Lounge. It’s probably my favorite place in the village to mix business with pleasure.

Central Park. MoMA (Museum of Modern Art). Empire State Building. Staten Island Ferry. Statue of Liberty. There goes your weekend.

Many, many fine restaurants in NY. Fine food at decent prices can be had in the Clinton neighborhood, many ethnic choices. Little Italy. Chinatown. SoHo (note: it's House-ton, not Hew-ston).

Lincoln Center: get the wife immersed in an opera, then slip out for a quick rendezvous with a tgirl and she'll hardly notice you've gone missing.

And don't forget to pronounce the W's in 'coffee' and 'party' and the extra one in New York. Elsewise they'll think you're a 'freakin' tourist'.
