    Default Huffing on the rise...

    it's getting bad these days....

Both these guys were arrested while trying to purchase additional paint supplies. Somehow the employees knew they were huffing, and called the police. I wonder what gave them away? This has got to be one of the worst addictions you can have. Huffing is directly killing your brain–much of the high you feel is just your brain being starved for oxygen.

According to the DOJ, “Almost 17 million individuals [in the US] have experimented with inhalants at some point in their lives.” That seems crazy to me, though I guess it’s reasonable given their wide availability. Also, I wonder what defines “experiment”. I’m mean if it’s just sniffing markers then I can understand a little better.

I also wonder if paint huffers build a loyalty to brands/colors of paint. Maybe goldilocks only ever does Krylon gold, and the silver-surfer wouldn’t dream of touching anything but Rustoleum silver. More arrest details at thesmokinggun here and here.

Huffers are practically a waste of life. I've never known anyone who's so much as messed around with huffing that didn't come away from the experience either borderline retarded or inept in some regard.

In my opinion, hurray for hard drugs. Survival of the fittest, damn it. Those dumb enough to "play" with drugs they know they can quickly form an addiction to have no common sense. The same people should consider themselves DAMN LUCKY if they can avoid addiction or come away from an addiction sobered.

Personally, I say let 'em rot. They don't need interventions, forced recovery programs, government assistance, or back to work programs. They need to slip further and further into their addictions until they seek treatment themselves or fall right the fuck out of society for making far too many bad decisions in life. Save jobs and schooling for people who know better than to mettle with chemicals.

Honestly, this post is probably going to piss some people off, but whatever. We're in a state of heavy unemployment. Sober and deserving people can't find work on their own, but recovering drug addicts get hand-outs? Fuck that.

I know a former prostitute and meth addict who was court ordered into a drug treatment facility. After graduating, they handed her a grant to go back to school, free housing, and a job when she graduates. She's not thankful for it at all. In fact, she's been babbling about missing meth lately, and supposedly she's been trying to get a prescription for adderall. You know... dextroamphetamine and amphetamine? Basically refined meth in a pill form.

Taking a step back, this would sound like the babble of some insane straight-edger, but I'm not. I smoke a shit ton of very high quality weed, I drink on occasion, and every now and again, I'll pop a few pills. Does that make me a hypocrite standing atop a soap box? I don't think so. There's a fairly large difference between weed and heroin, percocets and crack; just as there's a difference between having fun with drugs and letting drugs have fun with you.

So, I say let hard drug users slip so far into addiction they off themselves. It might give the rest of us a better shot of achieving security in life.

you rise some very good points..if weed was around more and easy to get
more people would smoke weed and stay away from huffing
    which means more lives saved..

That's not really true, dude. A lot of people start with the little stuff like weed, shrooms, and pills then move onto coke, meth, extacy, heroin, et cetera.

It all boils down to willpower and common sense. Some people have neither. It's just my opinion that instead of society giving them a hand-out, they should be left to their own accord until their lives hit rock bottom, and they decide to continue killing themselves or seek treatment.

Is weed REALLY that hard to come by? Fuck, a spraypaint can is about $6. Why not just buy some fucking weed. Obviously these morons would be happy with dirt shit if they're relying on huffing paint to get high.

GrimFusion, may the Good Lord bless you one day with a drug-addicted child.

    Amen.

Slinky's right, huffers are usually adolescents or folks with zero cash flow. There are SO many better alternatives to getting high than inhaling paint fumes.

If it was all about 'willpower and common sense' there would be no addicts. Unfortunately, the human animal by nature is self-destructive. It's programmed into the genetic code.

The only sure way to avoid a possible addiction to drugs is to NEVER take them in the first place.
Fortunately, some shit like dust and smack never really appealed to me the way that coke/weed/booze/oxy have.
I dunno, I think you just have to get older and understand that sitting around all day blowing your brains out is not the way you want to live the rest your life.

For those guys to be their age and that deep into huffing, they're basically the living dead. Zombies with a pulse.

I remember when it was always airplane glue, which cost like $1.69 a tube and "you" got a hell of a lot more high out of the $1.69 than a $20 bag...... of anything... and you could just walk into almost any big toy store and buy it..... and it even came with a free dispenser.

I wonder how many in here will admit to huffing amyl nitrate?

Then again, you can get medical grade nitrous for about 35 cents a "pop"....... safer than almost anything else.... and no one seems to do them anymore (while I know grown men who literally broke down and cried when Quaaludes got taken away from us (and they are still crying), those whippets seem to do the job for a lot of GG's. Never tried with TS's cuase they always want powders....... and meth turns just about any of them into instant fuck machines.
