Cheating vs Having an Affair?

Ok, let's us assume that guys would cheat because of sex. How about an affair? Would he regularly see another girl (gg or tg including escorts) because the sex with the other woman is that good compared to his wife?

Ok, personally, I view cheating as two individuals having casual (maybe regular) sex.

An affair means I call her on a regular basis, buy flowers for her birthday, and such.

Now for guys, this could be sincere or not. But we know women are emotional. Would you go through this effort because sex with her is spectacular. Or would you only do this if you actually care about her.

Honestly I never saw a difference between the two.
If I'm giving up that much emotionally to another woman, unless I have a huge financial obligation and/or kids involved - and even if I did, I would immediately dump the old girl and stick with the new one.
