I cheated the Grim Reaper!

I know that nobody will give a fiddler's fart, but I have to get it off my chest so bear with me (and if you're really not happy about it then you can always ask to have me banned from the board).

Anyway, earlier today I nearly shuffled off this mortal coil while out for some fast laps of my "personal TT course" on the local mountain roads. So here's yours truly, aboard the "Team Black Bess Racing" Thruxton, tanking along on his 1st flying lap. Just past the 20th milestone I come up to a fast, blind-apex left-hander just after overtaking a slower-moving vehicle (a builder's van), so down a gear, the lightest touch of brakes, and into the corner I go. Unfortunately I forgot that it's now springtime and the large shrub on the inside that I use as my braking marker now has leaves, thus preventing me from seeing across the inside if there's traffic coming the other way...

...So you can imagine my - ahem - concern when I suddenly found myself face-to-face with a chap driving a jolly nice Audi A5. Luckily, all that "Vorsprung durch Technik" that Audi will bore you with means that they have bloody good brakes, which gave me room (and time) to change line ever so slightly and shoot past him and thread my way between it and the van that I had passed on my way into the corner. I think that they both still haven't worked out what it was that shot across their respective bows! The silly thing is that I was 0.3 of a second up on my previous best lap time when it happened, and of course the lap was pants after that... Oh, and once I got back home, I noticed that my left-hand kneeslider had gone AWOL, so obviously there was slight contact between me and that bloody Audi...

Oh well, sorry to have bored you all, but it's jolly nice to be alive, don't you know?
