Default Should Facebook have a panic button?

Calls for Facebook to place a "panic button" on its pages have received the support of 44 police chiefs in England, Wales and Scotland, it has emerged.

Personally something like this should be placed on the page out of courtesy and for the well being of Facebook's customers. On another note, I don't think something such as this should be required by law, governments around the world are already digging their heel in with numerous internet restrictions; giving governments anymore power over the internet will just fuel their desire for control.

It's a worthy idea in theory, but the reality is it will be abused and cause more trouble than it's worth to have a "button" like that. That's like having an explosion button at someone's finger tips. BOOM. And, good things probably won't happen even if it's unwarranted.

Wonderful, another opportunity for police types to poke their noses into facebook to download the personal information. If a child under 18 is posting on FB where are his/her parents? Why aren't they supervising their child's contactees?

If I got a dime every time I read an ad with purloined photos I could retire right now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QjS0AbRpAo Andenzi, izimvo zakho ziyaba.

You don't have to be 18 to use FB, I believe the min age is 13, and they use that age only because of age of consent laws (regarding contract law because of requiring users to agree with a TOS).

What high school kid doesn't use FB or myspace by now?

And maybe its easier to withdraw from life
With all of its misery and wretched lies
If we're dead when tomorrow's gone
The Big Machine will just move on
Still we cling afraid we'll fall
Clinging like the memory which haunts us all

Pourquoi passer par facebook alors qu'il suffit d'appeler la police.

Why use facebook if you are a phone for call the police.
