I don't know...maybe fear of death. It seems like most people spend an incredible amount of their short life spans with a preoccupation of death. A good part of a lot of people's lives is spent on mourning other people who have passed....and nothing turns someone devout as when they are suddenly faced with death themselves.This doesn'texplain the "angry God" question though.

Then, of course, there are those who wield that type of angry religion as a weapon to use against other people they don't like/agree with/feel superior to/feel inferior to ...etc. They're incredibly small minded and weak people who feel a need to physically or psychologically strike out at others for their own gratification. So they use religion as a justification for their acts.

In one of the many "bareback" threads you said that barebacking happens more when you are in a long distance relationship.
(At least from your experience,ofcourse)

Why is that ?
Wouldn't it be more likely to happen more with an more monogamous relationship ?

Without God, people would feel free to do whatever they want without consequence. The idea of Heaven or Hell acts as a deterrent for most people. Besides if there was actual proof that God didn't exist, then people would worship something else.

In a Long term monogamous relationship, both you and your partner should be able to sit down and have a talk about being tested (for std's/aids). Both should be able to trust one another. Having trust with your partner is a good foundation in any relationships.
