Considering the United States military dominance, we are unique in history in NOT using it to take over foreign countries. Unlike previous foreign world powers our first thought, as a people, when we enter into a foreign conflict is how we are going to leave. The countries that we have military bases in could at any time tell us to leave, as was the case in the Philippines and we would. Also, in those countries where we are stationed we pump money and resources in rather than stealing them. The US government is not perfect, or even close to it, but I always find it funny that it is described as "imperialistic" when all facts and data point to that fact that it is the true antithesis of an imperialistic nation. Just a thought.
