Obama Signs The First Piece Of LGBT Civil Rights Legilation
http://gaysocialites.com/2009/10/bar...hew_she_1.html
The Matthew Shepard Act expands the 1969 United States federal hate-crime law to include crimes motivated by a victim's actual or perceived gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability." The bill would also:
• Remove the current prerequisite that the victim be engaging in a federally-protected activity, like voting or going to school;
• Give federal authorities greater ability to engage in hate crimes investigations that local authorities choose not to pursue;
• Provide $10 million in funding for 2008 and 2009 to help State and local agencies pay for investigating and prosecuting hate crimes;
• Require the FBI to track statistics on hate crimes against transgender people (statistics for the other groups are already tracked).
It's taken 10 years BUT FINALLY

15 democrats didnt sign it either... I just dont know how you can support a party whose Senator members vote against civil rights legislation.

so for 21 Republican's, voting against gay rights was more important than voting for funding for our soldiers.
That's the party undeserving of the support of anyone here.

Wow lets waste the tax payers money and bankrupt this country more by giving 10 million in money this country doesn't have by prosecuting "suspected" hate crimes. Another reason why Obama is trash and dumbass laws like these take up space in legislation.
